Agnes is a major character in Downfall. She is present through the second half of the game and is controlled by the player for a short time. She becomes an ally to Joe Davis and helps him by offering cooperation, advice, and companionship.
Personality
Agnes is a friendly and helpful ally to Joe, if a little sassy. Opposite of Joe, Agnes is generally sociable and very easily disgusted by the sight of gore but manages to follow Joe despite his attitude, developing a friendly relationship with him.
History
Agnes is encountered as a corpse that is being operated on by Doctor Z with the intention of bringing her back to life. He requests Joe Davis' assistance in retrieving a brain from the hotel's cellar for Agnes to make use of.
Upon being resurrected, Agnes finds herself without clothes and covered in blood on an operating table. She requests Joe to bring her something to wear which turns out to be a wedding dress, much to Agnes' chagrin. After a short conversation, she joins Joe on his quest to save Ivy, mentioning that she was holding a message to give to Joe when she awoke. As the dress has no pockets, she kept the note tucked in her cleavage to which she made Joe look away while she retrieved it only to be interrupted by an axe murderer who ended up taking a swing at both characters, killing them.
Agnes later reawakens in a locked hotel room, evidently unharmed. Someone begins knocking at the door to the room, gradually getting more forceful and urgent to open it, causing Agnes to become fearful. Agnes takes the bed's sheets and a blanket and ties them to a mounted moose head near a window as a makeshift rope to climb out. As she escapes, the axe murder breaks in and Agnes begins her descend into the hotel grounds only to clumsily lose her grip and fall the rest of the way, though is fortunately unharmed by the soft grass below.
The hotel grounds are enclosed by a fence and Agnes is left only with a car with keys that she apparently cannot drive and a statue which she pushes over to shatter it into smaller pieces. Agnes places a heavy statue piece on the car's gas pedal after igniting it, causing it to drive in reverse through the fence and allowing Agnes to escape into the woods.

- Agnes was based on Remigiusz Michalski's wife of the same name - Agnes Surygala.
- His wife, at the time of the original Downfall, was cross at him for putting her in the game. Not only because of her distaste for games, but also because she would never dress in white.[1]
